I just tested a network game with my wife, who is running Windows 7 x64. I created a game with a password, but she could not join. She created a game with a password, and I could join.
To recap:
Mac computer hosts network game Windows computer tries to join over local (home) network Windows computer receives password prompt Windows computer enters password Windows computer fails to join game
Windows computer hosts network game Mac computer tries to join over local (home) network Mac computer receives password prompt Mac computer enters password Mac computer succeeds in joining game
So...I hope this helps.
I'm running OS X 10.6.8, and the latest version of Desperate Gods (from the Wolfire CDN) on a Late 2007 MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB RAM.
I am unable to join most other network games, and when I create a game, my friends (on Windows computers) are unable to join. In those cases, the password prompt is not even displayed, and the game sits at the "joining" screen indefinitely. Same result on either Windows or OS X.
I cannot find a direct answer as to the cause of -- or solution to -- this problem. I just see some vague mentions of "server incompatibility" as a cause and "open port 25000" as a proposed solution, neither of which is particularly helpful.
For the record, I opened port 25000 for TCP and UDP n my router's built-in firewall, and it didn't help.
