I (DHB) went through the installation process. Notes are on the Brainard Lab wiki here, with items in bold suggesting places for tuning up the documentation and in some cases behavior of the software.

Here are the TODO items from DHB's installation notes:

install GSL without mac ports, which seems not to work for everyone (OK)
suggest standard install locations for PBRT and Mitsuba (OK)
- let these match InitializeRenderToolbox() defaults (OK)
make sure sphere renderer toolbox got rid of .svn files (OK)
Let CleanMatlabPath() delegate to Psychtoolbox RemoveMatchingPath() (OK)
add Matlab patch for newer XCode versions to install instructions (OK)
verify multiply output by 255 for MakeReadMultichannelEXR.m (OK)
restore ReadMultichannelEXR.mexmaci64 as convenience for some users (OK)
add userpath() sanity check to installation instructions (OK)
suggest simple test functions at end of installation instructions (OK)
remove hard-coded paths from GenerateAll and RenderAll top-level functions (OK)
let example Make scripts put outputs in folders named like the mfilename(), like TestAllExampleScenes() (OK)
- add a hint that contains a scene name (OK)
- make sure TestAllExampleScenes() doesn't add extra enclosing folders (OK)
don't clc() in example Make scripts because it hides debugging info (OK)
Example scene "Make" functions should create files under the tempFolder, not the current folder. (OK)
