[BUG] Connected pro controller acts as 2 controllers #858

Kinomoru commented 2 years ago

Whenever I connect my pro controller either by Bluetooth or USB and boot a game up, the buttons turn crazy and start auto pressing buttons.

Tried to check if it was a button mapping issue since, in devices, it appears both the normal pro controller and the same but as an Xbox 360 controller are connected. The 360 mapping went smoothly, but when I tried to change the mapping of the pro controller it's where it started pressing itself.

I tried to do this with betterjoy closed and remove the pro controller mapping but Windows doesn't let me input commands on it when it's not open.

same thing happens to me

Also having this issue with most games, but it works fine when using a controller in GameMaker Studio 2. Perhaps an OS update messed it up?

genowhirl9999 commented 2 years ago

Yeah, I'm also having this issue.

Sounds like the same thing reported in #818.

I use HIDHide, go into Devices, and uncheck Pro Controller. The only downside to this is you have to have BetterJoy open when you want steam to recognize it.

Check #900 . I had this sort of issue. Didn't mention it in my post, but in device manager (or the setup USB game controllers thing from control panel, probably the latter now that I think about it), the pro controller was going crazy.

The HIDHide fix didn't work for me, but rolling back to 6.4 did. Try HIDhide first though and do what JustWhelmed said. If that doesn't work, uninstall betterjoy and its drivers and try an old build.
