The recruit time is incorrect on the recruit screen but is correct in the Recruitment queue box #116

It says it would take over 14 hours to recruit 40 Salamanders ... that is way too long ... in the recruitment queue it takes 50 mins. which seems more realistic. My barracks and catacombs are at level 5 and 6. So the 50 mins looks better.
