Please, find here the updated details as I can still reproduce the problem 100%
of times.

Mobile part:
OS: CyanogenMod v11 M9 (2014.08.04)
Android: v4.4.4
GTalSMS: reports v4.4.4 in the top line but the changelog has v4.4.5 as the
topmost item in the "Help/About" panel.

Fixed part:
OS: Kubuntu 14.04.1 64bit
XMPP Client: Mozilla Firefox v31.0
Notes: The chat is happening on a separate window. But the behaviour is the
sane with and "embedded" chat window.

Which client are you using?
Can you test the beta version (by subscribing to google GTalkSMS page to have
access?) More logs are available in the new version.

Thanks

I would like to confirm the exact same problem on my T699 with CM11-M8 by
apexqtmo talking from Chrome-64 v39 using the XMPP/GTalk client built in to
GMail ...my instinct is that it is a message length limition being imposed by
google's version of XMPP
