Support for NEZ Plug-style M3U playlists appears to have been mentioned in the GME readme for ages, yet I don't think any common Linux player supports them. I'm pretty sure they are the only way for adding timing and metadata to e.g. GBS and HES files.

FWIW You can load a .dbpl playlist, so maybe converting the m3u to .dbpl and then loading it could be possible.
