5 GHz Wi-Fi network keeps disconnecting #14

When I'm too close physically to a 5 Ghz Wi-Fi hotspot, Lineage keeps disconnecting from it randomly. This issue does not occur with 2,4 Ghz hotspots.

Can you try to connect to a 5ghz wifi and tell me if you have the same issue? Honestly i don't have this problem with my wifi (5ghz), and hotspots can be very-unstable networks

y0lopix commented 5 years ago

By "hotspot", I was talking about my home Wi-Fi network and not the access point generated by the phone, sorry if you misunderstood. The issue occurs when my A5 is too close from my router. Also, the connection was working perfectly on the marshmallow stock rom, on LineageOS 14.1 and on HadesRom custom rom.

I don't know, we should wait for someone to test 5ghz and 2.4ghz to confirm it's a rom issue, since for these kind of problems the rom isn't always the first thing to blame. In the meantime you can connect to a 2.4ghz wifi, or use stock rom, and see if the problem is not present in the same time it is in 16.0

I don't have a 5Ghz access point but on 2.4Ghz access point it keeps disconnecting when there's no an internet connection, it's such a pain when DSL hangs and you can't reboot modem over the phone because it automatically disconnects from WLAN even when mobile data is off. Don't know if it's intended but it didn't have that issue on LOS 14.1

My SM-A500F can see a 5GHz network, but can't connect to it at all. I tried 20, 40, 80 MHz, no effect. But it may be a LOS bug, because my second Samsung (old one, GT-I9100) with LOS 15.1 behave the same; Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus with a stock ROM works with the network perfectly.

I have a logcat of the disconnecting bug when it happened. I replaced the Wifi name by Wifi5GHz for privacy reasons.

I've even tested my SM-500FU with WiFi 5G, connected to a Vodafone Huawei HG8247Q router, and found no problems. I will continue to use this link and if I detect any problems I will post here.

Since my problem is related to 3 LOS devices (as a minimum; one of them uses an official build), I've posted an issue to LineageOS bug tracker: https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/issues/445 Hope the team will fix it.
