This add-on was ripped out of a larger expansion I was previously working on but which is now on hold, at least until Factorio 1.2 is released. It addresses an issue I have never been happy with in IR3: that you can unlock, for example, lead smelting, and then continue to research a dozen different applications for lead without ever laying hands on a single lead ingot. Other overhaul mods address the issue by introducing a ton of new science packs - it's a valid approach, but can create new issues such as difficulties feeding high speed labs and general wastage of obsolete science packs. I tried complicating analysis packs in a previous add-on (Special Projects) but it never really worked out so I canned it.

The inspiration mechanic is similar to the "triggered technologies" mechanic coming in Factorio 1.2 (see FFF #376). I didn't copy the idea: I had the mechanic up and running well before that blog post.

I haven't had time for a full playthrough with Inspiration installed. There may be bugs or omissions. There may also be other places in the tech tree that inspiration could be applied to. If you have suggestions, leave them here.

1.0.1 - fixed that starting tech level setting "None" would produce more favourable starting conditions than "Stone".
