How long did you wait? Took a long time for me (sometimes up to a minute) from
pressing play until something happened.

mine doesnt work either. i was already running system menu 4.2u, and then
installed HBC and DVDx using the
HackMii installer .6, and then mPlayer CE .76 separately. It didn't play the
DVD after mounting/opening the
stream. Then I read around and people mentioned using cIOS.... had no luck
installing the cIOS stuff. Just froze
after choosing the IOS to install (no matter which one I chose). Kinda stuck.

I do have a D2Pro modchip in there but I don't think it's doing anything...
that thing never really did much at all
to be honest. Flaky backup copy support is the only thing I ever got out of
that waste of money. If I really need
to, I will take it out but the special screwdriver I need to do that is in a
box in storage and I'd like to avoid doing
that trip if possible.

I'm having very similar problems. Wii menu 4.2E, tried both CIOSes in the
download
section, with and without DVDX and with and without the 'beta' version of
mplayer_ce
(26.11.2009 and 30.11.2009).

It is interesting to note that nothing worked at all with the standard CIOS
installer
(Jun 30). By this I mean just stalling at the mplayer_ce 0.76 loading... screen
and
needing a hard reboot. Again, interesting to note that with the 'beta' version
of
mplayer_ce it got as far as "IOS 202 found, reloading IOS" before stalling (I
think
this is line 976 of plat_gekko.c).

With Hermes' version at least things started to move a bit. mplayer_CE loads
and I
can get online stuff to play now quite happily, but DVDs remain a no-go. I
select
"Play DVD" from the menu, it claims to be mounting the DVD and then that message
disappears and I am stuck waiting. No freezing now though, just no action - I
can
easily keep using mplayer_ce after asking to play a DVD.

Really happy to help debug this if needed - any help I can lend. Keep up the
good
work fellas (and ladies, if there are any) - one day Nintendo will embrace the
homebrew love you give their system...

Hi rodries

No change from performance with Hermes' IOS 202 I'm afraid. Think I saw a bit
more
debug code at the start of mplayer (?!) but can't be sure - too quick to flash
up.
All other functions remain good, however - USB read, SD read, online play etc.

One slight difference, however, is that the blue LED behind the drive flashed
up this
time - this didn't happen with the previous IOS 202. Both are spinning up the
drive
when trying to mount, but it spins back down again straight away.

Just to check something (my IOS knowledge is very flaky) with the installer you
gave
me, do I want to select IOS202 at the beginning menu or IOS 36 to bootstrap
install
IOS202? I tried both, but I have always assumed that the target IOS (202) is
hard-coded into the installer, and all I am chosing is a Trucha bug enabled IOS
so I
can run the installer from that?

Again, any more help I can give, let me know. Just so you know a bit about my
Wii -
its a brand new black Wii purchased in Dec 2009 in the UK - dunno if the
hardware
implications of this make any difference.

maybe this might help a little. If you are 4.2 i believe dvdx installs as a
different title id and not the one the current mplayer is looking for. There's
a
beta thats on topic in the irc that solved my problem 0.761 b1 19/12. Hope
this helps.

Hi,
I have the exact same problem with mplayer_ce 0.75
I have a c2d modchip and system version is 3.2E
Tried IOS202 and IOS222, with /without DVDx with patchmii_core.
The play dvd just not working, I even can not list files from DVD though I can
hear
the DVD driver was functioning with mount DVD.
