DVD playback not working with 4.2 #774

I have installed IOS 202 and the latest homebrew and mplayer CE 0.80 media 
playback works fine from USB but I can not play any DVD. I am aware of issue 
455 but still can not figure out: Am I missing some IOS or is there an hardware 
issue that makes this completly impossible (bought the WII in 2010)?

Also having problem - have newer Wii and installed HBC to play DVDs, but it has 
not worked.  Have newest System Menu installed (4.3?).  Thinking of just 
removing the homebrew stuff and using a DVD player.
