it does not automatically detect settings

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. download exodus
2. install it
3. create new profile
4. try to connect
5. says internet connection not available

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
it should detect the settings

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I downloaded it today

To what server (if public like jabber.org) are you connecting?
gmail.com

What plugins, if any, are enabled?

Please provide any additional information below.
connection is available all the time, while installing gtalk i did not 
have to make settings for internet proxy or anything of that sort. it 
started working directly

when i try to download a list of public servers i get a pop up network 
connection not
available, which is not true.
