A couple of ideas:

Add multiple game over screens, telling the player what you did wrong ("Game over! You moved onto a fence." or "Game over! You got hit by a Mho.")
Add "animations" (gifs that play) when collision occur. This could be implemented by changing the image on that square to a puff of smoke gif.

None of these are top priority, hence "Extra Credit", and "Enhancement".

Multiple game over screens have been implemented, and the rest are now up for grabs if anyone decides they want to come back to this later. You might want to ask to fork the repository instead in that case though.
