Looking at the LOS information got me thinking about modelling other senses in XS. What if one benefit of adding non-human squad members was that they had additional senses not available to normal humans? For example, what if AI/Cyborg characters could sense Electro-Magnetic Frequency emissions. From power sources basically. So if there was an ambush and the people were using high tech plasma guns, that would "glow" in the EMF sense. Or perhaps Infected characters have extremely sensitive senses of smell and can "see" scent trails left by enemies. As far as displaying this info, I would pop up a circular radar made by reducing each tile to a pixel. That way the player has a general idea of distance and direction. I mean their ally is describing what they sense. The player isn't sensing it directly. "I sense a lot of power in that building over there" ie.
