Differential purpose of UPC in the program

If i am adding 2 products with the same UPC number, its not letting me add.. Which is good as 2 products cannot have the same UPC.. But if I am using the edit command. I try to edit an item with a different upc number but with the same name.. It is allowing me to..

On listing the file,

2 items have the same name but different upc number... I think that defeats the whole purpose of upc

The entire point of UPCs are for items with same/similar names to be differentiated. e.g. A razer blade 15 with an i9 and a razer blade 15 with an i7 are both razer blade 15s (same product name: Razer Blade 15), but with different UPC to differentiate different SKUs

Reason for disagreement: But if you are talking about different versions of the same item -> it will be better to not allow the same name at a whole but allow same name but with mention of different SKU's to make it easy for the inventory manager to better keep track of its products if of the same type but different SKU's
