Would be nice if GB Studio had more sample packs available free to download that you can just simply add em to the dev kit for easy faster development of popular type Games

Like RPG's, Run and Guns, 2D Fighting, Action Adventure, Shoot em' ups, platformers, Puzzles.

Ah, so you want more thematic packs! I have been wondering how to make it easier to get the assets you want without having to check every single file individually. An asset pack format like this might be more useful to people making different types of games. Good idea.

Now, this may not happen for a while because rarely do people make assets for this repository anymore. You can already find themed asset packs like this, for GB Studio specifically, over on itch: https://itch.io/game-assets/tag-gameboy/tag-pixel-art

Lastly, I can't implement downloading packs from this repo into GB Studio, if that's what you're asking. You'd have to ask https://github.com/chrismaltby/gb-studio/ directly about that.

But, I'm glad you brought this up, because I like the idea of theming the contents of this repository. I might experiment with creating an itch.io page that contains these assets in a more thematic/use-case way for developers, and packaging them up as "releases" based on the contents of this repository. We'll see.

I was wondering if some real progress or idea is made of this?

It would be awesome if you could download thematic packs directly from within gb studio.

But even if they are no real thematic packs, maybe this repository could be downloaded from within gb studio , so users can just check (with checkbox) what they want? And then updates added here can appear in gb studio?

I'm not a developer but maybe you want to contact Chris Maltby and propose this idea of a "asset pack repository which can be downloaded from within gb studio"?

Thanks

Hi Retro Gamer.

As Deer Tears mentioned you'd need to make that request in the GB Studio repo as it involves changes to GB Studio itself.

I would guess that this is something the devs will do eventually, but I don't think it will happen soon as they have a lot of other features that are already announced that they are working on now.

Still worth suggesting!
