Editing the database manually is tedious and time consuming. Using various APIs (some of which may not exist right now) it should be possible to make the database update and maintain itself automatically.
A descriptor file could be placed inside a mod's database folder describing where & how to check for updates, along with the default metadata to be used. (Which can then be edited in the database repository later if incorrect)
The two websites for which this will be used with is GitHub and BoneTome.
GitHub would be possible right now with their API
BoneTome does not yet have an API, which is the blocking issue here.
