For non-experienced users, it would be nice if there would be some functionality that automatically generates a DataCatalog entry for a new dataset based on the extension and the present metadata in the file.
Use case
We are working on a GUI (Python Delft Dashboard) where people would like to bring in their own data. Since a lot of external people are not familiar with the DataCatalog (despite the perfect online notebook examples), such functionality could make hydromt even more user friendly.
