I have never done app localization systems so I would need to look into it. Luckily there isn't that much text.
With that said translating the store page is as simple as duplicating the en-US
in fastlane/metadata/android/
, changing the folder name to a different language code, and then translating the contents within the folder.
If you plan on moving this project forward, translations are for sure a must-have to reach "the world out there"!
I've done manual translations (like you mention) and translations using online systems! Manual will scare away non techy people right away!
Beside, online systems have suggestions (where you just have to read and accept the translations! It makes the whole process A LOT faster!!!)
you can also use Transifex... like weblate, they have a free hosted version for foss apps! (and from what I've heard none is much complicated to config - unless you want to self-host weblate)
I will definitely look into it. There is a good chance flutter has good tooling around localization as well. Not sure yet if the online hosting option will be worth it since there isn't a ton to translate or upkeep.
I appreciate any insight since this is new to me!
Hum... something's not right...
In fastlane/metadata/android/en-US i don't see any application strings to translate except for the app description's!
I was looking for the app's GUI strings... What am i missing?
My bad, I didn't make it clear... The fastlane is just for the app store page. The in app text is hard-coded right now. Luckily it looks like Flutter has tools to localization easy. I will need to implement the localization before the app can be translated.
Hope implementing it isn't much work... i believe it's a very desired feature and essential to bring more users :)
希望加个中文 看不懂英文 每次都得屏幕翻译,太麻烦
I will need to implement the localization before the app can be translated.
Any news on this? 🙂
Would be great to have an online system we could use to translate such a nice app... 😉
