allow for adding "technology used" that is not in the list #750

I'm adding a project that uses Docker, Kubernetes, CosmosDB, Oqtane, mesh networking, Raspberry PI. Sadly none of those are in the pick list and I don't see a way to type in fresh entries. I'll list this stuff in the description, but for searching it might be nice to add tags on the fly.

Also Airtable, Notion

As someone on the dev team I can shed some light on this, because it has not been forgotten:

The summary version is that there are big challenges both design-wise and development-wise to allow for user-submitted tagging like you're asking for. I'm really more familiar with the technical side, where we have tags and filters linked at a deep enough level that separating them out so we can offer flexibility like this is going to be a big undertaking, much less the prerequisite design work. Just to set expectations, it's not likely to happen fast. But I think everyone agrees dlab can improve on tags/filters.

In the short term, contacting democracylab and requesting additions via our contact form or email is the best option, and we have some design work on making that more explicitly clear in the pipeline. I'll make a note to review this list of tech you've written here but it can't hurt to drop an email if you've got an expanded list.

@PeterBreen I understand about closing #869 and thanks for pointing this out.

Since it would be hard to add custom roles to the dropdown, to the "Role Details" object can we add a Headline? The headline could be anything. - single line input.

Then when showing the project, and showing the "Roles Needed" show the headline, rather than the 'Role'.

And I want to tie this request to a marketing priority. We [project leaders] are trying to attract new volunteers. We need to make the first impression the most relevant and most interesting. Just saying React Dev v. Front End Developer is a lot more relevant to the potential volunteer. And being able to say "React Dev for Realtime Video" might be just what someone is interested in. But it saves prospective volunteers time in not having to go into the posting to find the details, and it gives us an opportunity to make it interesting.

Thanks for listening.
