The demo site just shows this:

Application error

An error occurred in the application and your page could not be served. If you are the application owner, check your logs for details. You can do this from the Heroku CLI with the command heroku logs --tail

Urgent please

ljleb commented 5 years ago

Anybody having a clue what is happening?

Rivierg commented 5 years ago

Still not working … Some help please :)

ljleb commented 5 years ago

I've been in the readme and tried the links to other implementations, and some of them are functioning without any issue appearently. I'll see if I can do something if it's a software bug, but my guess is this a money issue for a costy service in heroku.

Heroku has a free plan, which I suppose is enough to support demo app. This might be some configuration error probably.

Is this project still active in development? Last commit was almost 1 year ago.

Look for Democracy Earth ?

We would like more feedback from DemocracyOS to not think that French law enforcement has killed the developers.

pcav commented 4 years ago

Still true, unfortunately. Any plan to revive it? More generally: is the project still active,or has it been abandoned in favour of another platform? We (QGIS.org) would be interested in adopting it for our decision process. Thanks.

ZerooCool commented 4 years ago

Also on other platforms, users would like help to deploy it, and, unfortunately, very little help is provided by the community.

There are a few people like me, who have done very rudimentary research, who provide a minimum of information, but, surely my information is not up to date, because, I have no information for more than 'a year now, on what happens to the DemocracyOS / DemocracyEarth project.

I was told in the meantime of a similar project, developed in Germany, which deserves to be known, but which seemed to have limits when it comes to how to quickly implement multiple user accounts. Look for Aula : https://aula.de

Otherwise, my page, in French, which includes my few essays, but, I used DemocracyOs on a Docker basis.

My problem with Docker and DemocracyOs, is mainly to be able to make a functional backup, stop Docker, stop DemocracyOs, and restart it, to be sure that a stop is not final. I only found one person who could help me with Docker, and another who was uncomfortable with Docker. I have read a lot on Docker, but it is a full time job, to assimilate the functioning of Docker, not to end with a DemocracyOs project which could not restart following a failure.

Your feedback is welcome if you want to test this with Docker.
