We have Classes containing Teacher, Children(s) and what year. Poss. add an option to "year up" the school, at a certain date (start of year) the year 1's go to year 2, etc, year 6's go to 'left' (indicate they are no longer attending).
This would need a system that relies on the Progress table, to check if they passed the year or held back (simple boolean). When updating records, ignore failed children as they would resit a year (More of a USA thing, but still possible in UK)
On the topic, Learning difficulties may be an option to put on childrens DB. No current planned features for it, but allows Teachers to know if the child does have anything (This is already in place in the Schools systems, so it's not far-fetched to consider this becoming a feature (dependent on time)).
