What about the BSD license change? #11

Hi,

the Love2d engine uses DevIL and it would be nice if it was possible to release games as one exe. However, due to the LGPL licensing of DevIL that would be only possible if I made the whole game GPL-licensed. On the website, it appears you received requests for BSD licensing of DevIL before. Anything that resulted from those? Any chance you will actually switch to BSD-style licensing?

Regards,

We may be able to work around the LGPL restriction, but changing the license completely to a BSD-style license looks like it's going to be very difficult. DevIL has had a lot of contributors over the years, and I'm not sure that we can get permission from all of them.

Maybe it would be worth trying? I assume the commit log at least in theory still has all the email addresses. Might be that many don't work anymore, but maybe they do, only really one way to find out...
