Empty masked library files

Why have I got all the files *.fna.masked inside the library folder (loaded both by kraken2-build --download-library ) are empty (their sizes are 0 bytes) if the --no-masking option was not provided? How can I get that from my library.fna that resulted masked since it has xxxxxx in some positions?
