Currently, SVG diagrams look great in web browsers, but trying to view them
in dedicated SVG viewing programs causes issues (such as inkscape or eye of
gnome)

It would be better if they looked right in these programs as well.

The SVG works properly in Eye of Gnome now, through no enhancement on our part. 
 It may 
be that it was missing some functionality?  It's strange that Inkscape messes 
them up 
though, as that is where the original templates were created.
