[26661] Mailto Menu System Button

We’d like to be able to have the ability in the menu system, to do Mailto, i know you can currently link to other websites etc, but having the ability for them to click the button and launch outlook would be handy.

One instance we have is where a client wants to add a button on the left hand side for Application support (which is done in house) and they just want to link it to an email.

There are several different approach to this.

• menu point to static page and give knowledge of the support, and put an HTML link inside Static page, called email us.
• Create an generic request type with form. part of form has statement to say you can contact internal support from link xxx. Use markdown to specify mailto link.
• Same as first approach, menu point to static page, and move that menu item to top as home page. so when customer open portal it will land on it.

To clarify, extension menu is not designed for this. I can see the use case for this, but unless the solutions provide by me are not fit, then we may consider. Even then it take time. Since it is completely new kind of menu.

Extension menu is used for iframe only. By click on it, it will navigate to a page with iframe of that link.

New kind of menu item will require DD server modification, admin portal modification and actual client portal support. which from current situation, it won't be on top priority and will take time. close it as there are alternative way to achieve.
