The team:
Ruckus Global Support and Services has created a small engineering tools team with the charter to leverage contemporary software design techniques and machine learning/assistance technology, to construct systems which will boost our TAC, and Service Partner efficiency and stimulate a fundamental cultural shift towards operational automation, reuse and openness, while evolving an enhanced Serviceability relationship with our Customers.
The role:
We are seeking an entry level software engineer that has a can-do attitude and a core belief in ownership. You will be proficient in some of the technologies listed below and willing to learn in the other areas.
The successful candidate will be focused on the ongoing success of our internal and external customers, excel in a technology driven environment and be passionate about automation.
Responsibilities:
• Contribute within our small and agile team working on both software development and dev-ops projects
• Be involved in both architectural and design choices
Required personal attributes
• Self-starter who is excited about technology
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Detail-oriented and critical thinker
• Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Strong customer focus - an ability to put yourself in the customer’s shoes
Required experience
Systems Administration:
• 1-2 years of experience or equivalent with Unix
Software Development:
• 1-2 years of experience in development role with one or more of the following programming languages: Python, Javascript/Angular, Golang, Java
• Experience/understanding in HTML/CSS principles
• Experience with data modelling, for example: JSON, YAML, Google Protocol Buffers, Avro, Swagger
• Experience with SQL and/or document databases, for example: Elastic Search, Cassandra, Postgres, MariaDB, mySQL
The following experience will be considered favourably:
Machine Assist:
• Automation
Systems Administration
• Implementing or supporting public/private cloud IaaS or PaaS assets
Software Development:
• Experience with programming frameworks and tools, for example: Kafka, MQTT, RabbitMQ, Django, Celery, Docker, Robot frameworks
• Cloud development, testing, deployment: AWS, GCP, Azure
• IP networking and distributed systems experience
• Secured applications and communications
• Understanding of Agile development methodologies and tools
• Knowledge of version control systems like GIT, Bitbucket
IP Networking:
• Vendor experience
• Experience configuring, managing and troubleshooting with Ruckus, Cisco, Juniper, Brocade or other vendor networking devices and operating systems
Education
• Degree or higher education in Computing Science or equivalent
