One thing i want to discuss:

I am in favor of adding a check whether the releasefull script is run from master. IMHO, code that is not in master should not be in production and therefore not be 'released'.

I can imagine occasions where you do a quick and dirty fix in a branch and then just release it. Then the branch is forgotten and code state is mixed.

What do you think?
