ods:ID: why not reuse dcterms:identifier #152

Term Name

ods:ID

Digital Object Name

all of them

Feedback

We were wondering, why this particular property was created to identify the different digital objects, instead of just reusing dcterms:identifier ? From the definition they seem to be compatible, which would suggest a different reason behind it. If there is, it might be expressed in the definition of the term.

Yes good point. For some reason, this never came up, no idea why. What I do suggest is that we use dcterms:identifier for DigitalSpecimen, DigitalMedia and Annotation. But that we use schema:identifier for SourceSystem, DataMapping and MachineAnnotationService. These last three are in general more schema oriented, as the terms in schema just fit better with describing the objects. We discussed this and as already these differences are already it won't be an issue to continue this split. I will start implementing these changes
