The assertion class could use hasCitation property to connect certain assertions to their sources. While not all of the content from assertionProtocol and assertionProtocolID could be covered by this, it might still be useful for some cases.

Ok, so the use case would be that your assertion (let's say measurement of leaves) points to a publication in which the results were published, is that correct? It won't be a problem to add this property to ods:Assertion
