OSD only shows splash screen overlaid with video

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I only see the initial splash screen......mimimosd-extra 2.4 Copter R715

Please provide any additional information below.

I also have 3dr radio connected which works fine so I know that mavlink  data 
is coming from the main board.
I only have tx from the board connected to rx on minimOSD

I have tried without 3dr and connected rx to tx when 3dr is disconnected with 
the same result.

I have updated firmware and character set through ftdi.

I have changed Panel settings in config tool and then reloaded from the OSD 
without issue..

I just cannot get it to display anything past the splash screen

I have now solved. I was originally tapping the telemetry off the same pins as 
the 3dr radio. I have now connected OSD directly to serial on the board and it 
is working.

Right now I'm having the same issue. Minim-Osd only shows the splash screen. 
Also tried to establish a Telemetry connection with 3DR modem, but doesn't 
help. There's also a Mavlink2Frsky converter installed and tapping of the same 
TX pin from APM.
The strange thing here is, that is used to work perfectly well until I rewired 
my Copter. Only change was that before I powered 12V side separately by 
plugging it into a balance connector.  Now I installed a 12V step-down 
regulator into my 4s setup and power up all at once and since then it doesn't 
work. 
But I will try tapping into the serial port directly although I think the error 
must be somewhere else since it used to work with a 3-way cable from APM to 
telemetry, minimosd and mavlink2frsky converter.

Update: Updated the firmware to r727 (was running g6.. before) and now osd 
refreshes.
Didn't change anything in the wiring, osd is still connected paralles to 
telemetry modem and mavling converter.
