Update side nav based on current page, make main page the event view #2

i like the 'update nav based on active page' stuff, but i'm not sure about making table the default view. i'ld like to add a bit more info to the index view (getting started stuff) so i would rather keep it default. also, if you mostly visit the table page, that will be reflected in your browser's history anyway so you can go straight to it from history. PS: also, having a 'main' and 'table' entry doing the same thing would be a bit redundant and confusing

hey so @jswank can you contribute just 1 commit for the 'update nav based on active page' stuff, without the rest (as i mentioned above)

anyway i modified your commit to undo the behavior that table becomes the main page, kept the rest, and merged it. thanks.
