The reference of a "Mrs. and Miss Comyn" in the typescript as opposed to the handwritten photos raises questions about who these people were and how their name is actually spelled. Attached is a screenshot of the handwriting, and this is referenced on the 26th of July, 1820.
I looked into the first Bulletin if this issue and went into the handwritten Journal and found this: From looking at it I am sure that the 'P' in 'Poems' is capital. The Journal XML file already has it capitaled. The screenshot is on page 96 of the handwritten Journal PDF.
Hi @SavannahRicks ! Yes, that would be an early publication by Mitford, Poems--we have an SI entry for it in one of the <listBibl>
s.
Just corrected my comment--those Poems did not get the title "in two volumes"! What's in the SI is correct.
Here's a direct URL for the Digital Mitford Site Index: https://digitalmitford.org/si.xml
Here are a series of questions on how best to identify some of the named entities we're seeing. We can mark these complete if we can figure them out with reasonable confidence as we go. But it's okay not to be certain. Please edit this post to

[x] In the 1820-05-24 entry, check the handwritten manuscript view: How certain are we that Poems is capitalized in this phrase near the beginning: "sent him my Poems"?
[ ] Is Major Stewart (
@ref="#Stewart_Major"
) the same person as Mr. Stewart (@ref="#Stewart_Mr"
) mentioned in April 1820 entries)? We have very rough "stub entries" in our back lists on the journal file for both, and I've moved them together to see if we can figure out, based on context and some research, if they're the same person. Notice whether they're mentioned around the same locations and people?[x] Do we find more entries anywhere in the file mentioning the Haywards, who turn up in 1820-05-24? We do not have a site index entry or any "stub" entry in our back list about them, yet. If we do not have an entry, don't add a
@ref
attribute yet until we create one. (Our schema will help us track which entries are missing pointers and entries, so it's better to leave these unmarked with a note to investigate more.)[ ] Who is Mrs. Talmage, mentioned in 1820-05-24? Missing SI entry or back entry..
[ ] Josephus reference: I am pretty sure this is a reference to an ancient book by Flavius Josephus, in an English translation from the late 1700s or early 1800s...We can work up a new Site Index entry for it based on WorldCat's listings: https://www.worldcat.org/search?q=flavius+josephus+antiquities+of+the+jews We should locate one or two editions she might have had access to, published late 1700s (like the 1790 edition) and write a new entry for the SI.
