When in labeling mode users can select the "paint roller" setting which also toggles the "shift" modifier behavior. Make sure this modifier is updated to match the paint roller setting when a new image is rendered.
To test: toggle on "paint roller" mode, switch images, try to paint superpixels. This should work without issue after these changes.
