Unless otherwise noted, for any payload whose introduction is after 2019-10-01, the support for decoding should be maintained for at least 10 years after deprecation.
When a newer version of a payload type is introduced, the Composing of the previous version should be removed.
This applies to Ghost, Limbo, and Shell.
Introduction
In recent discussions, we have been aware of that the upcoming revised image-based payload may not be compatible with the existing image-based payload. Therefore, we may need some version control strategy in order to safely manage different versions, similar to how we maintain support for legacy standard payloads.
