Center Beeps Eliminate Voice and Other Sounds #224

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

Which board (stock / gruvin9x / sky9x) are you using? sky9x

What is your open9x FW version? 1947

What is your open9x EEPROM version? 213

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Activate center beeps on any channel
2. Center beep will play once, then other sounds will quit working until
reboot. Haptic still works
3.

What is the expected output? I expect to have an audible sound when throttle is
at center position and still be able to hear my voice and other alarms. What do
you see instead? Center beep plays once and after that, no sounds play anymore
until I reboot the TX. Haptic still works. This occurs with system and voice
sounds. I also noticed that while the center location seems to be correct on
the pots, the throttle activates the center beep or haptic at random positions,
almost never at the center. I don't think this happened on previous versions.
Throttle is calibrated.

Please provide any additional information below.

While we're at it, I think it would be nice if the interrupted file could
resume after the beep is finished, like for the BGmusic.

Is it systematic? Only with this kind of beep? Did you test the Mixer beep?

Do you have a "midpot.wav" file?

I do have the midpot.wav file. If I activate the center beep function on the
pots and/or throttle, the center beep sound will play once and then all other
sounds are dead until I reset it. I have voice files that play for alarms and
activated by switches. Haptic feedback continues to function. System and voice
sounds all quit working after the center beep plays once. Does no one else have
this problem? Could it be an issue with my setup? The problem has been with me
for several revisions, ever since I began to experiment with sounds after
getting a NAZA. Before that, I never used any of these features, so I don't
know when it may have started. Not sure what the "mixer beep" is. I have
determined that the problem is caused by turning on the center beep. It happens
100% of the time and is completely repeatable. I could make a video or upload
my setup if any of it would help.

A video is not needed, we believe you :)
What could help is:
- Try mixer beeps. In each mixer you have a "Warning" item that can be set to
sound 1, 2 or 3 beeps whenever the mixer is turned on. Try that and see if it
kills sound too.
- Try removing the midpot.wav file from the sound card. You should get an
internal beep instead. If that works fine, try to replace that file with
another, known working sound file (duplicate any file that you're used to
hearing on the card and name it midpot.wav). That particular file might have a
format that crashes the audio decoder.

Thanks a lot for the help! I wasn't implying that I would submit a video to
make you believe me, just wasn't sure I was doing a good job of explaining it.
I deleted the midpot.wav file from the SD card and the internal beep works
fine. Everything works as expected. I have to leave for work, so I don't have
time right now to test the other things you suggested, but for now it is
working as I need it to, the internal beep is perfectly fine with me. I
actually prefer it. I'll try your other suggestions this evening. Hopefully
it's just a problem on my end and not actually a bug. It would be nice if the
interrupted files would continue to play after the center beep though. Since I
was never able to get it working before, I hadn't noticed that, but it could
definitely prove to be a problem as my quad is usually flying at or very near
the throttle center point and the beep would interrupt alarms and
warnings.Thanks again for your help.

Are you sure your midpot.wav is correct? Would you post it here?
