enhancement: option to always show battery level in status bar

It would be great if there could be an option to always show current battery 
percentage in the status bar, even when battery is not low.  This would give 
user an extra option to use it as a battery gauge also. 

I would guess this extra function/option shouldn't have any significant 
increase to the great small memory footprint.
