Direwolf20-MC / BuildingGadgets

Sometimes, building large structures can be a little tedious, and take a lot of effort. Not all of us are great builders you know!

[Feature Request] Magic Mode Building WANDS! #594

Open chaosblad3 opened 3 years ago

I really love the functionality of this mod and would love to include it in a modpack I'm currently working on, however the modpack in question is intended to be an entirely magic focused modpack with no tech mods, and as such "building gadgets" is very much thematically out-of-place.

What I would like to request is a "magic-mode" config option that when enabled replaces the gadget names and textures with corresponding wands, and automatically disables RF costs, possibly with a secondary config option to make the wands use a different source of power for example the players XP or maybe even with compatibility modes if mods like botania are installed that makes the wands consume mana.

I'm sorry this seems a little too much effort and I believe if at all, @MichaelHillcox would schedule the techincal changes for the rewrite

Also you can replace the textures and names yourself using a resourcepack

One more thing, you could write a mod to registry replace buildinggadgets gadgets and then override the energy storage (and replace it's behaviour with whatever you want). In combination with a resourcepack that would yield the desired behaviour.

I'm actually not against this idea, although, I will very specifically note that I'm not sure if we'd be the ones to actual ship alternative gadget models & textures as it's quite an ask for our side of things. I've wanted to add alternative means of powering the gadgets for a while and doing something dynamic with a wide array of possible support vectors would be ideal so Botania and Blood Magic would likely be a great place to start :+1:

I'll get back to you about this after I've discussed this a bit with Dire and other contributors.

Agree this would be a neat feature. there is a pretty neat Magic book resource pack that exists here: Original: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/texture-packs/magical-building-spellbooks 1.16 version: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/texture-packs/magical-building-gadgets Not sure if the original authors would allow permission to use those models.
