A whole list of bugs that I've found #11

Closed AwkwardOrpheus closed 9 years ago

AwkwardOrpheus commented 10 years ago

This probably isn't the best way to show them, but It's better than filling up your forum type thing with it.

Here's a list of the bugs that I've found with the interface:

Friends list gradient bug: http://puu.sh/bLTw9/3c22558fa4.png The bottom of the friendslist is overlapped with a gradient that takes away the bottom border of the friendslist.

Group chat overlap bug: http://puu.sh/bLTzT/4a733759c2.png A group chat on steam has a overlapping bug with the user list at the top pane of the chat, the bottom however is fine. I don't know if it's off or not, it makes it look more sleak though: http://puu.sh/bLTES/719f6db98e.png

Library icons for "play" and "install" are slightly out of place, I don't know if this is an actual bug, but yeah, you're aware of it though as I've heard, just popping it down though. http://puu.sh/bLTNK/6523531181.png

Tools library is definitely something you will need to consider fixing: http://puu.sh/bLUv8/5508d106fc.png The pane bar is colored oddly and it's kind of hard to read!

Downloads section has some sort of blue artifacting in the corner: http://puu.sh/bLUy6/ad3b69ce19.png

Favorites section has some text that's been shrunk to an unreadable size: http://puu.sh/bLUBl/93c1523f39.png

In the settings menu for Steam, under any of the info boxes, I embarrassingly forget what they're called! Gladly puush can save the day and pretty much explain for me, there's this odd red line above the settings, I don't know if that's supposed to be there or not.

Small view bugs, you're aware of them as I've posted it in the comment section of your group. It's not a top priority as you've said though, however, when your skin does go public, I'm sure that there will be other users who will mention it.

Sometimes the text might appear a little too short on some things, such as major steam functions for options: http://puu.sh/bLUkb/fb93361864.png another example here: http://puu.sh/bLV2Q/f5c70fcfc1.png it's not a bother really. (This mostly appears on drop down menus)

Steam had removed the refresh icon when using the in-built client browser, it's a shame really, very useful. That isn't really a bug but if you're able to add that back it would be greatly appreciated!

There isn't much after this, a few slight pixel misplacement's which you're aware of. If you're interested in them I'll list them here:

This isn't much of one, but the URL bar is slightly out of place I'd have to think, it's also quite hard to read sometimes: http://puu.sh/bLTUm/241e29e2bf.png

The games' list scroll bar is horizontally out of place here with the gear: http://puu.sh/bLTVT/c7e79a36e6.png

Chat room player-activity is out of place slightly as well: http://puu.sh/bLUnq/6abb7912ec.png

Chat room resizer icon is a little pixels off from the corner: http://puu.sh/bLVnH/9adca316ea.png

Chat room "member list" is also slightly off in a sense with the overlay: http://puu.sh/bLVrM/de8d2e9b54.png

Some main titles are out of place slightly by a few pixels, however this is probably the lest of anybodies concern ever: http://puu.sh/bLUoF/8ad2acf072.png (where it says Settings)

Steam library search x button is off as well: http://puu.sh/bLUrm/8bc237d1b2.png

Library games showing the recent play time is off should probably have a bigger gap between the title and that. http://puu.sh/bLUDV/3df02c697f.png

This really isn't much of a bug, I'll get used to it though! Whenever typing in any of the chats I'm unable to view more of what I typed before hand, it goes to a completely new line which hides what I've recently typed. Before: http://puu.sh/bLUda/76966cd21c.png After: http://puu.sh/bLUe6/5ecf9ecbc2.png This actually causes a new bug with the chat system where if you highlight your text, you can see it go out of place: http://puu.sh/bLUfR/bacea01573.png

This also isn't much of a bug, but sometimes I get confused at how much content is actually written down in a chat, as you can see I'm a regular for the Steamworks chat, and we discuss...things... but I sometimes think that the chat hasn't been open for a while or something because there isn't a scroll bar in it. Everything else however does have a scroll bar.

please tell me if you've fixed any of these, i'll be able to remove them from this thread sort of thing, or you can save this jumbled text into notepad and remove them as you go along, or if you wish, i can add these manually one by one as separate bugs in this forum thing

Thank you for the very in depth reports here. I will ask one favour in that if you post these in future please try to take note if it's in a location I have actually done something to. A few of these 'bugs' are rather places I haven't even skinned yet. Usually it's obvious by either looking almost the same as Default Steam, or there is bright colors (Typically bright green, blue, red and orange).

I'll reply to each bug/issue mentioned below.

The bottom of the friendslist is overlapped with a gradient that takes away the bottom border of the friendslist.

This is by design, so not a bug.

A group chat on steam has a overlapping bug with the user list at the top pane of the chat, the bottom however is fine. I don't know if it's off or not, it makes it look more sleak though.

Has been fixed in the latest commit.

Library icons for "play" and "install" are slightly out of place, I don't know if this is an actual bug, but yeah, you're aware of it though as I've heard, just popping it down though.

Anywhere that text is positioned slightly off vertically (Usually by 2-3 pixels) is due to the difference between OS X and Windows' fonts and will be fixed closer to a proper release. No need to report these.

Tools library is definitely something you will need to consider fixing: http://puu.sh/bLUv8/5508d106fc.png The pane bar is colored oddly and it's kind of hard to read!

If there are crazy-bright colors anywhere on the skin it is a location I am 'testing' with, so it's not a bug but rather something I have not yet done anything with.

Downloads section has some sort of blue artifacting in the corner: http://puu.sh/bLUy6/ad3b69ce19.png

It should be clear that the downloads page hasn't even been touched yet...

Favorites section has some text that's been shrunk to an unreadable size: http://puu.sh/bLUBl/93c1523f39.png

I am interested in this one, as I cannot reproduce this. Is this something that happens continually or as a once-off? If it is reproducible please give me the steps you do to get this.

In the settings menu for Steam, under any of the info boxes, I embarrassingly forget what they're called! Gladly puush can save the day and pretty much explain for me, there's this odd red line above the settings, I don't know if that's supposed to be there or not.

I don't see any images for this, and am not sure what you're referring to as I see no red. It may have been a testing bit of mine. As mentioned above, I use bright colors when testing.

Small view bugs, you're aware of them as I've posted it in the comment section of your group. It's not a top priority as you've said though, however, when your skin does go public, I'm sure that there will be other users who will mention it.

You're correct about it not being anywhere near the priority list, it may be actioned much later down the track but no promises as yet.

This is due to a Steam bug rather than a skin bug. I use an extra 2 pixels padding both left and right of the menus to make it nicer, but Steam's auto-calculation of widths goes spastic when this happens. I will look into a possible fix but cannot guarantee it will be resolved.

Steam had removed the refresh icon when using the in-built client browser, it's a shame really, very useful. That isn't really a bug but if you're able to add that back it would be greatly appreciated!

Skins cannot add functionality to Steam, only modify existing functionality, so unfortunately I can't bring it back. I will fix the URL bar's positioning though.

This isn't much of one, but the URL bar is slightly out of place I'd have to think, it's also quite hard to read sometimes: http://puu.sh/bLTUm/241e29e2bf.png

Same as above, due to difference in font heights between OSX and Windows. Will be fixed closer to release.

The games' list scroll bar is horizontally out of place here with the gear: http://puu.sh/bLTVT/c7e79a36e6.png

Horizontally aligning has been adjusted.

Chat room player-activity is out of place slightly as well: http://puu.sh/bLUnq/6abb7912ec.png

I hadn't touched that area until just now, but it's improved in the latest commit.

Chat room resizer icon is a little pixels off from the corner: http://puu.sh/bLVnH/9adca316ea.png

It may look off due to having a 1px light drop shadow on the icon, but it is actually perfectly aligned. Not a bug.

Chat room "member list" is also slightly off in a sense with the overlay: http://puu.sh/bLVrM/de8d2e9b54.png

Fixed in latest commit.

Some main titles are out of place slightly by a few pixels, however this is probably the lest of anybodies concern ever: http://puu.sh/bLUoF/8ad2acf072.png (where it says Settings)

Same as above, due to different font heights. I have fixed this one already though in the latest commit.

Steam library search x button is off as well: http://puu.sh/bLUrm/8bc237d1b2.png

Technically, the button isn't off, the background is :P but this will be looked at later as it is visual and doesn't impede functionality.

Library games showing the recent play time is off should probably have a bigger gap between the title and that. http://puu.sh/bLUDV/3df02c697f.png

Fixed.

As of right now, I'm not sure of a fix. I want the input to be one-line high, and was expecting the input to scroll left/right with text but Steam forces it to go in lines above each other instead, causing the bug mentioned. I will update when/if it is fixed.

This was an accident, but I actually liked it without one... I will look into adding it back shortly in the future.

Alright, thanks, although I listed some of the things you might not have touched because it's just encase you might miss that section or something, there's other bugs that I have come across in places you probably haven't touched. Noted though, I'll try my best to ignore them!

I know you probably won't like me mentioning this because it's a visual bug, but whenever people are "playing a game" or someone "posted an announcement" I'm barely able to read the text as it's the exact same color as the box background: http://puu.sh/bNgux/bb1d1e9651.png

I just opened downloads right as I restarted steam, I didn't have any updates or anything. If it's a one time thing and has only been experienced from me then I'd just ignore it for now. :) I don't have any tabbed games or favorites though.

I'm sorry about not linking an image on one of the bugs I had reported, I was very tired at the time presumably because I've been living on 3 hours sleep and 20-22 hours awake time for the past week! It was just one of your color testing things though.

DirtDiglett commented 10 years ago

I'm sorry if my original reply came across as antagonistic, that wasn't my intention :) On a re-read it may sound that way.

The notification text colour you mention can definitely be sorted out, I agree it is very difficult to read at a glance so I'll change it to be much easier to read later today.

No need to be sorry, just makes it trickier to work out what we're talking about :+1:

Everything reported here should now be fully fixed.
