Also, I agree. Looking head on to the text in the screenshot, it's easy to read in a darker room. But in a well-lit room, and/or in my peripheral vision it can be harder to read. And if it's harder to read when I'm not looking directly at it, why bother with small notifications on the bottom-right while I'm playing a game anyways?
That would require me to take my eyes away from the game (very bad if it's multiplayer competitive, like a MOBA or FPS), so why bother with a Notification at all if it'd be a distraction that would make the gamer less competitive/effective while gaming?
Having it in a slightly lighter shade, so it can be seen more easily in a well-lit room with one's peripheral vision is a much better way to make sure it isn't too dark. (Any chance you could try this, @DirtDiglett ? Or perhaps we could have a "Stealth" version of the skin that's more stylized, and meant for dark rooms, with another version focusing on greater clarity and readability?)
I completely agree that the current text color has too little contrast to be noticeable and am looking into fixing this. I will be honest and say I am struggling, as there seems to be absolutely no reference to it anywhere and no other skin developers have changed it either from what I can see.
Valve did some very silly things with the notifications colors... they are directly linked to friend's offline color... so I did a bit of trickery to make notifications white text but offline friends still grey. There is a good chance this may have some unexpected results in some weird places I haven't seen but hopefully all works well :+1:
e.g. "is now playing" or "has posted new announcement"
