Is it possible to redesign the plugin so that you can switch the AC on and off with a tap in the home app?

I think you tried to merge into the wrong project. This pull request tries to merge into the old dead DirtyDevWork/homebridge-daikin project instead of the new homebridge-daikin-local. Please ignore if this was on purpose.
