Lab IT considerations

For the lab we require:

• ArcGIS (already installed at lab)
• MGET (already installed but maybe needs to be updated)
• R (already installed?)
• R packages + dependencies (not installed)
• Rtools (if we want "live" updates for any bugs we find)

Additionally:

• Jason suggests an "oh shit buffer" of 4 weeks before the workshop.
• Allison to speak with IT to confirm, allow Jason/Dave to log in remotely to check setup.
• Dave to be on campus on 26th to check setup.

MGET has an optional dependency on the following, which we will want for a specific scenario:

• MATLAB Component Runtime (MCR) v. 7.7 for win32: downloadable from https://code.env.duke.edu/projects/mget/wiki/MCR

MGET issues for installation

• installer hard to automate
• update to ArcGIS will be available over the summer? 10.3/10.4?

R packages

• R and RStudio installation should not be problematic
• updated CRAN binaries via winbuilder?
• Dave to check Windows knitr dependencies when at CREEM
• Dave to write test script for R components

Agreed: July 13 "image" deadline (does not include final R package versions BUT testing would be helpful).
