OnePlus 8T update and recovery issue #156

Open Cadals opened 2 years ago

After updating to the october version the system broke (on a three months old installation). Now I've been trying to install the last version manually, and the new flashed recovery doesn't boot. It only rarely boots with the "fastboot boot recovery.img" command, and even by installing new version in this way it doesn't work.

You must follow the special instructions, they were noted twice on the news page. https://divestos.org/index.php?page=news#2022-10

If you have one of the following devices you MUST backup before installing this update: instantnoodle*, kebab, beryllium If you have a bootloader locked OnePlus 8 series device, you MUST unlock it before this update. Locking is no longer supported due to vendor changes. If you have a OnePlus 8 or 9 series device, you MUST update to the Android 12 based firmware for it.

https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/kebab/fw_update

If you weren't locked and follow the steps carefully, you will not lose any data.

Thanks. I didn't see those. The recovery problem persists tho, what can I do?

Recovery doesn't work even after updating the firmware?

To be clear the firmware must flashed though fastboot first.

Cadals commented 2 years ago

No, I tried also after updating official Oxygen OS

To confirm you were on OxygenOS 12? I've read reports of the Oxygen updater not giving 12 by default.

Sorry but can't be totally sure, I rolled back to the previous DivestOS version right after the recovery problem. I would like to update tho, there are any chance of vendor changes that might make bootloader locking working again? I also wanna take the chance to thank you for the amazing job you're doing with DivestOS, I've been looking for years to have a privacy-focused rom for non-pixel devices.

Did you ever manage to update?
