Why does Ps. 67:4 indicate a reverence is to be made?

67:4 Cantáte Deo, psalmum dícite nómini ejus: * iter fácite ei, qui 
ascéndit super occásum: (fit reverentia) Dóminus nomen illi.

Perhaps I'm simply ignorant of some rubric, but I don't understand why a 
reverence is to be made here. The Trinity is not named, nor is Christ or any 
saint.

It is a pre-1960 usage to bow one's head at this line, as referenced in the 
breviary I have with Divino Afflatu rubrics (Benziger, 1945).

If it's really only pre-1960, then it ought to be removed (eventually, it's not 
a high-priority issue) when the 1960 rubrics are selected.

Would anyone like to propose a schedule of such reverentiae?  I'd be pleased to 
"adjust" the rubrics accordingly, but I'd like to know the the scope of the 
issue.

There are several similar such indications in the Anglican Breviary, although 
not in the text of the psalms.

In L. Trimeloni, Compendio di liturgia pratica, 3rd ed. (Marietti: Milan, 
2007), 354, i find: "[In the office,] it is customary to bow the head also at 
the following expressions: 'Sanctum et terribile nomen eius,' 'Sit nomen Domini 
benedictum,' 'Sanctus, sanctus, sanctus Dominus Deus Sabaoth' and at the final 
blessings of prime and compline" (my translation). He cites Antoñana, Manual 
de Liturgia sagrada, 7th ed. (Madrid, 1947), 168.

Since no mention is made of "Dominus nomen illi," I suspect that we're dealing 
with a similar custom, observed where the Benzinger breviary was printed, but 
not in Italy or Spain.

I asked someone who is more widely read than I am, and he said that the custom 
of bowing at the three expressions mentioned by Trimeloni is fairly universal 
(and specifically, also in English-speaking areas). Furthermore, more than one 
author adds something like "and other expressions like this," which would 
apparently include "Dominus nomen illi."

Thus, my initial question is answered: a reverence should be made at the point 
indicated in Ps 67:4. Since this is a matter of custom, about which the 1960 
rubrics say nothing, it is not just a pre-1960 practice, and should not be 
removed from the text when the 1960  rubrics are selected.

On the other hand, it would seem that we ought to add similar indications for 
the other expressions cited: "Sanctum et terribile nomen eius" (Ps 110:4), "Sit 
nomen Domini benedictum" (Ps 112:2, and perhaps elsewhere), "Sanctus, sanctus, 
sanctus Dominus Deus Sabaoth" (Te Deum).

In the interest of closing this issue, I supply the attached tarball which adds 
indications to make a reverence at Ps 110:9 (110:4 was a typo), Ps 112:2, and 
in the Te Deum. "Sit nomen Domini benedictum" also occurs elsewhere, but adding 
a rubric in every case seems like too much work to me.

As in the case of Ps 67:4, there is no indication in Magyar, only in English 
and Latin. I leave updating the Magyar to someone who knows how to express "fit 
reverentia" in that language.
