Process map & who’s who #47

Open afroleft opened 4 years ago

afroleft commented 4 years ago

We’ve pretty much spun up a manufacturing operation in just a few days.

There are a number of key jobs-to-be-done, with key people working those roles. I've had a crack at pulling a simple process map together, noting down who’s working each role underneath.

Probably missing people, probably added wrong people here and there. This is just how key people looks like from my vantage point.

Can you let me know if this looks accurate or not? Feedback welcome.

3DCrowd have sorted this out with DHL. They are underwater at the minute but when things calm down we might reach out to them / via them and see what can be organised

JackReason85 commented 4 years ago

Lovely stuff, process map also looks like one of those head massager spiders ;)

ajlennon commented 4 years ago

@afroleft should there be something in there about managing orders? I guess it relates to inventory management but CRM seems to merit it's own tag?

afroleft commented 4 years ago

Alex , currently labelled as orders > fulfilment. That sound right ?

Also the lovely @DoESsean has said he's going to help us with the deliveries of masks which plugs an important gap.

Will update issue.

Delivery-wise, all the local hospitals we're talking to have delivery vans and are happy to collect.

KarlDunkerley commented 4 years ago

On a separate note, I'm talking to my local surgery. Have dropped samples off (i could do with some 3D ones if you have any to spare tomorrow). The senior nurse is going to talk to her CCG and get backk to me. Just had a personal friend working in hospital and care home for a visor. Also had request from Warrington org. Hope the relaxation of standards will onblock the logjam. Cheers,

Just out of interest, what's the fastest 3D print per visor achieved so far? Was talking to a guy in Appleton who is taking over an hour. Are there ways to speed this up?

@KarlDunkerley Check issue #5 for that. It's the Verkstan model with a 1MM nozzle and 0.6mm layer height. That comes in at 11-15 mins per visor per printer, given a range of print speeds being 50-60mm/s, since some printers will need to be higher or lower in this range.

Some people ill, some working on different things so have updated the above. Key things:

  1. 🤕 @duncN is poorly, let's all wish him well. Can anyone step in to his inventory roll?
  2. @ajlennon is not working on any production, but he's doing project coordination, so updated there.
  3. ✅ @JackiePease is working away on production, so that's reflected now
  4. ✅ We have Lyn Heron --> l.heron@hotmail.co.uk who's reached out to say she's happy to join @DoESsean on deliveries and packing work

Just had a message from a contact;

"We have no stock of anything at present, and are witing for 500 mic PET to land week commencing the 20th April.  I can however let you have 500 sheets of this – still at £8.96 per sheet, my boss says he will split a pallet if required."

I am checking but the sheets should be around 1040mm x 1550mm so lots of visors from that and we now have the humungous trimmer to cut it down. Will be heavy (250kg ish) so have asked for transport cost.

Can we buy it for Does? Cheers Karl

Hi all!

This is a gutting post to write...

I'm currently on inventory management but unfortunately need to stand down as I can't provide the constant support this role needs (currently due to feeling weird, but also supporting family needs & another Covid project for which my skills are more suited).

I'll happily have a video call to handover to someone & I'll continue to forward emails as appropriate.

Things I've learned in this role which might help:

  1. Understand what the materials being used are & for what part of the visor (i.e. frame & or visor)
  2. Keep establishing a pipeline of suppliers as their stocks are running low & stock replenishment is taking 1 - 2 weeks (people are alos pre-ordering material...)
  3. Phone suppliers early in the morning before everyone else does

I've updated orders & suppliers i'm aware of in this spreadsheet

The orders sheet was intended to be the beginnings of an inventory, but the moment it's just, well, orders we've made. I've added a date ordered / estimated arrival date as recommended by @plastictactics .

I've also added a "Quantity Remaining" column (currently column J) & highlighted in peach - if this is updated regularly, it'll give us a rudimentary idea of our stock levels. Please feel free to improve!

Finally, it's been amazing working with you all - it's been fantastic to see what you've managed to create in such a short time. You should all be well proud of yourselves!

Keep in touch & stay safe y'all

Duncs

ajlennon commented 4 years ago

You've been an absolute star @DuncN. I don't have the bandwidth to take that over atm but I'd like to be on that video call to understand where we are at.

plastictactics commented 4 years ago

Are we setting up another call?

JackReason85 commented 4 years ago

yes here >>> https://us04web.zoom.us/j/298313496

JackReason85 commented 4 years ago

Unsure if it is better for me to lay out concerns / issues here rather than Slack, some of which we discussed in the call....

  1. Customers all asking about time-frames before deciding whether to proceed with DoES or whether they are happy for me to hand off to another of our third party PPE visor producers. I get the impression a lot of them are speaking to numerous outfits / placing tenative order requests before deciding, so right now a lot of these orders are static and my main concern is we want progress these asap.

  2. Tommy (third party producer) has come back to me detailing several other orders he is dealing with directly and three of which he mentioned are outfits we have received orders from too;

The concern is the time to establish if there has been a duplication of orders.

Currently I am having this back and forth with third party producers to establish their inbound direct orders vs our orders. Even if we switch to being a local hub for the NW / Merseyside these issues will not resolve because they will continue to receive orders direct.

Might seem like a mad suggestion but if we get the green light from DoES directors to become a local hub for NW, will it make sense for NW third party producers to redirect any direct orders they receive to our centralised website form then they are all captured one place?

I assume issue number 1 will become a bit clearer with timelines / delivery dates in the next week or so once we have production up and running and into a rhythm right?

If / when we move to us being a local hub, will we just pass order quantities to our third party producers? Rather than right now I am introducing the customer to the third party producer which I feel a lot of third parties are struggling to manage and process orders as they are largely only set up for production of PPE.

My understanding is the new process will be;

We will just deal with all of that behind the scenes either through internal DoES production or third party producers such as Tommy Wong, Jon (Magnetic Solutions) etc.

Sorry for the lengthy message but right now I feel like I am almost paralysed in terms of progressing customers either to third party producers or along our own internal Trello Order board.

Any input on any of these points would be great and I appreciate some of this was already discussed in the meeting just looking for further clarity.

Thx

@afroleft do you mean the order from Barnsley Hospital? Surely it needs to come through the enquiry form on the website?
