To help keep our heating bill down we should...

Any other obvious gaps to plug?

magman2112 commented 5 years ago

I have a FLIR module that fits my iPhone and iPad, we could use this to find cold spots in the room and target these for possibly sealing.

I would say that all of the large girders will have gaps that will need filling. We should perhaps also investigate where the floorboards meet the brick walls.

We should also perhaps look at any corresponding gaps in the ceiling, as this will also be letting heat out of the room - applying mastic to these joints may be a pain, but these are long gaps that are potentially letting lots of heat out.

Yesterday @magman2112 fixed the two items I'd originally listed. @methoddan also checked the edges of the floor in the main room.

I've updated the list with the ones that need checking/fixing.

I filled some holes in the floor and fixed boards along the exterior wall from the solder station to the laser cutter room. I don't know if any other walls in the main room still need to be checked though. Just an FYI :)

The new floor is down in Dinky, so that's a sealed as it's getting :-)

Jackie and I inspected it beforehand and it looked like holes had been filled, there was definitely evidence of expanding filler.

@Sean-anotherone filled the main holes in the floor in the laser room. Some of the foam may still need to be trimmed off though, but at least the drafts have been reduced (there were some big gaps along the west wall)

As mentioned in #700, we should check for gaps in the partition wall round the laser and CNC rooms, for noise as well as draught purposes.
