General Ongoing Laser Maintenance & Tidiness #1223

It's been suggested that we put together a list of general tidiness instructions for the lasers and laser room, as well as any small scale maintenance that any user could do, but may currently not feel comfortable in autonomously getting on with.

If you have suggestions, please put them in here and we can go about drawing that up and getting it put up somewhere prominent in the laser room.

For a start every single user is welcome to not leave a potential bonfire under the bed of Gerald !

We need to look at material storage and the bits of part used material that people are leaving behind.

If material is left behind that has been partially cut and has not been marked with the owners name, how do we handle this. Potentially it could be classed as donated or spare stock, like the top draw in the plans chest. If not, then it should be clearly marked with the owners name.

If the bits are not really useable as spare stock, then they should be broken up and put in the recycling bags.

Suggested prompts:

Before your session

Turn the laser on 5 minutes before your first cut
Check the fire extinguisher is nearby
Check if it is clear under the laser bed, and clean it if not

During a cut

Try not to lean on the lid
Stay in the room
If bored waiting, see if you can move on any of the open github issues

After a cut

Wait 2 minutes after a cut before lifting the lid

After your session

Clean under the bed (if anything dropped through)
Turn off the extraction and laser
Leave the PC on (it will go to sleep)
Put reasonably sized offcuts into the top drawer
Break up your smaller or awkwardly shaped offcuts into even tiny pieces by hand (or use the band saw if trained) and put them in the recycling
If you leave material behind and unlabelled, it will be treated as a donation or recycled

In inductions we normally say that while waiting you can work on your laptop, but you need to check frequently that your material isn't on fire as this can quickly get out of control.

We don't currently have recycling for ply and MDF, although Laura and Karen are both looking at options. Pat Link is collecting waste acrylic, so this should be put in the labelled boxes in each room.
