Open magman2112 opened 2 years ago
A long time ago - and I have no idea what has happened to them - we did have some red and green business card sized cards printed up to let people know which desks were available and which were in use. They were placed on the little acrylic DoES stands that we had (which have also disappeared).
Would something like that be useful?
The stands mentioned by @magman2112 would be taller, so more visible which would be good. In the meantime, perhaps we could make some cards to leave on the desks
@magman2112 are you still intending to make these metal sign holders? If not, then pieces of wood with slots in might do the job nearly as well. I could try using the CNC router.
@magman2112 has ordered some stainless steel rods to make these. They should arrive late September.
@johnmckerrell made some signs and Nalini laminated them at last week's Hack the Space meeting. The stainless steel rods have arrived - hopefully @magman2112 will bring in his metal bender the next time he's in.
@JackiePease has suggested that we should have stands to show when desks are free and possibly with people’s names to show available desks.
I have made some simple stands using bent stainless steel rods in a wooden base that I use for the Repair Cafe, that could possibly be used as a model for the basic stand.
We can then investigate what material the signs should be made from to give a good aesthetic for this use, plus what needs to be recorded on them besides “Free” or “In Use”.
