Fill in CIC34 form for 2022-2023 year #1781

Open johnmckerrell opened 1 year ago

As a CIC we must fill in the CIC34 form. We don't tend to provide a lot of information on this given we communicate with the community through other mechanisms but we can give a brief update on our activities during the year.

The contents of the previous form are in issue #1780. The following headings must be completed:

MAKE SURE TO FILL IN ALL PARTS!

Really we should aim to do this closer to the year end, i.e. in around July/August rather than waiting until the accounts are ready and the memories of the year have slipped away! Or even building it up through the year wouldn't be a bad idea!

johnmckerrell commented 1 year ago

What have we done this year? Anything to mention? The last two years have been a bit generic.

johnmckerrell commented 1 year ago

Did we do anything in 2022-23 you'd like to highlight?

DoESsean commented 1 year ago

The only thing that will need changing is the first section, but I can't really think of anything out of the ordinary that we've done - it's pretty much renormalising after COVID, so building the Maker events back up and solidifying the Repair Cafe.

Unless Plastic Playground @arthurrowland have done something we can hang our hats on, or some other regular user?

arthurrowland commented 1 year ago

Normally I'd be happy to share - not sure if it would be considered double counting since I'm mentioning on the plastic tactics CIC34 form :)

Have we talked about the Boost membership? That seems noteworthy.

Started our "Boost membership" programme to widen access to the facilities to members of the community with more limited financial means

Or something like that?

Going to go with this:

PART 1 - GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE COMPANY’S ACTIVITIES AND IMPACT In the space provided below, please insert a general account of the company’s activities in the financial year to which the report relates, including a description of how they have benefited the community.

DoES Liverpool has continued to provide shared workshop space and coworking space to the community throughout this period. This year we continued our Boost Membership scheme to regularly provide two free 6 month memberships in a lottery scheme. This scheme has introduced a number of new people to the space who have become quite integrated in the community, the scheme has been a great success and always has plenty of people applying. Through this year we had a number of problems with our building's lift. The landlord has started a plan to replace the lift which will mean we will need to secure an additional space to continue to provide accessible space, and a plan has begun to secure this.

PART 2 – CONSULTATION WITH STAKEHOLDERS – Please indicate who the company’s stakeholders are; how the stakeholders have been consulted and what action, if any, has the company taken in response to feedback from its consultations? If there has been no consultation, this should be made clear.

DoES Liverpool's stakeholders are considered to be the maker community together with small businesses and freelancers in Liverpool and surrounding areas. DoES Liverpool has regularly kept the community updated on what we are doing by blogging, on social media, and communicating via our Google Group mailing list and receive most feedback through said group as well as through social media. We have continued to use GitHub Issues to plan the projects and tasks undertaken by the community.
