We've moved Sheila back upstairs, but still need to reconnect and check the PC etc. @magman2112 is in on Tuesday and we hope to make more progress then
We have looked into setting up a new PC (old) to replace the PC on Sheila. I managed to obtain a memory upgrade for this new computer, so it now works OK on Windows 10 with 8gig of memory.
@amcewen mentioned though that the software needs to be 32 bit to be compatible with the Lasercut software, so we may need to downgrade this computer as it is currently 64 bit. I aim to get this accomplished during the next Maker Night.
In the meantime, I am going to look at the old computer, to see what is wrong with it, to see if we can fix this quicker than the new one.
I spoke to @magman2112 who found the problem with the old PC and fixed it.
I've move the table up from downstairs and connect the old PC, and reconnected the extraction. I tested Sheila and she cuts fine. (The bed closing issue #1711 is still a potential problem but I've put a label on the machine to describe this)
I will leave this issue open while the new PC is worked on, but have removed the broken tag.
The PC attached to Shelia (small laser cutter) didn't turn on today. There was power going to it- a red light was showing on the front, but it wouldn't turn on. I tried turning off/on and checking the power leads I noticed a pool of water on the desk which I dried up - I'm not sure if this is related.
