Much better membership cards #584

Those keyfobs we hand out are really horrible.

It should be something much better looking, involving laser cut, credit card sized, sublimation printed, (or 3D printed) perfectly customized with your name on it, with lights on it.

Requires a supply of flatter RFID units, or ones in different shapes.

People should cut out the middle man and get themselves modified

Maybe a stupid question, when you say RFID are you talking NFC spec, or something different or custom? Only asking because if not you could buy a load of white blank NFC cards, and etch them with the laser cutter to pretty it up and print in the sublimation?

Just come across this, I wonder if you could sublimate onto blank white RFID cards? Obviously you wouldn't want the heat to damage the electronics. Could be an option although credit card sized things would be more of a pain to carry around than the current fobs. Actually looking at my fob now, it actually has a quite flat edges so perhaps there would be an option to sublimate onto that, again heat issues notwithstanding.

(I realise this is what the ghost above suggested, I meant this to reinforce what they'd said but my language didn't convey that)

Do we still want to do something about this? @ajlennon's suggestion is still available on eBay for just under £50 for 200 cards, so we could certainly do something with those and the sublimation printer if there was the desire.

If not, and we're satisfied that, actually, the fobs might not be beautiful but they're fine, then I'll close this.
